Understanding DIN Standards for PPRC Piping

Published: 10-Aug-2026
blog cover

PPRC (Polypropylene Random Copolymer) pipes and fittings are widely used in hot and cold water plumbing systems because of their durability, chemical resistance, and long service life. When sourcing PPRC pipes, one of the most important things to check is compliance with recognized standards such as DIN 8077/8078.

DIN 8077 specifies the dimensions of PP pipes, while DIN 8078 covers the general quality requirements - wall thickness, pressure rating (PN), and material composition. Pipes that meet these standards are tested for long-term hydrostatic strength, ensuring they can safely handle the pressure and temperature of a typical plumbing system for decades.

When selecting PPRC pipes and fittings for a project, always ask your supplier for the relevant certification documentation and verify the PN (pressure nominal) rating matches your application - PN10, PN16, PN20, and PN25 are the most common ratings, with higher numbers indicating higher pressure tolerance.
